A Bit About Me
I began my martial arts journey at Sheridan's Martial Arts Center when I was 8 years old after a dear friend and neighbor invited me to join. I fell in love with the sport, the people, and the culture and have loved being apart of the dojo family ever since. I achieved my goal of becoming a black belt in January 2018 alongside my great friend, Rachel Shimer.

To say the very least, martial arts changed my life. As a young girl, I was extremely shy and anxious. I would nearly pass out in large crowds and could never keep eye contact. After joining the dojo, I was challenged in this sense, helping me to overcome the anxiety I struggled so much with. I created amazing friendships with people who I now consider family. Martial arts has been one of the most important foundational pieces of my life, and I know I would not be where I am today without the sport and the people who make it up.

Since being an undergraduate student at Ball State University since 2019, I have been much less available to go to karate classes, hence why I am giving back to my dojo community through this project. As I begin my next journey in medical school, I know my time in the dojo will be even more limited, but I hope the contents in this project will always bring me back to my martial art roots and supply current and future students of the dojo with resources needed to enrich their martial arts education and overall wellness.
